During October 2009 one of CATS valued supporters applied for and successfully received funding to remove and rebuild the back portion of the sanctuary. Jackie wasted no time in getting people on site, firstly to remove one of the chalets where the roof was literally falling in and the floor was rotten; secondly to obtain quotes for the uncovered cat run to be made weather-proof for the ferals from the adjoining allotments to shelter during the night.
Work started almost immediately and Jackie and all concerned are delighted with the support received from the Foundation. It has made so much difference already, both in practical terms and also in morale. To see the roof sinking further and further towards the ground and with no hope of having it repaired was not a morale booster!
It is apparent from the smiles on faces – and just as apparent from the before and after photos - what this funding has meant to the charity. What a difference!
Kevin, the deputy manager of Pets@Home, Sheffield Heeley branch, is obviously enjoying his visit to the sanctuary. It is an inspirational place for volunteers and visitors – and the cats think so too!!
